Looks more like reeeally good editing than an in-game mod. Then again, unless op replies, I may be wrong.
tbh though, the flame effect lasts a bit too long to be really backfire. from what I know, backfire lasts a really short split second, rather than being a fireball out of the exhaust pipe.
