Holy macaroni
File>Merge thats all :|
You dont have to change the polygons
You dont have to edit materials, only assign materials
Have no idea why you cant use the material editor since, there are 1 single button what must use
element selection tool on the second tab on the right.

You need to get some basic knowledge of max, just go through the help files that come with the software, i also started using max just three months ago and after reading the built-in documentation i got it working.

Hey, very nice guide. I havent started modding yet, but i have some cars in mind, mostly from Forza 3.
I have a question, do you make interiors the same way you make the rest of the car? I mean, separating each and every component inside of it. Its not mentioned in tutorial. I have 3D models from Forza that have quite detailed interiors, so i wanna know how to work with them. I see that some car mods here have very detailed interiors, even 3D buttons (and not only textures), so im curious about that.

For the interiors, i detach it to 4 parts (left and right, front, back, top) and assign to it differents materials...

I started doing it right now....its a pain in the a**, since i'm trying to make a bentley continental GT, which has like 20 different materials.  How can i make my own material textures? With photoshop?

No double post.
Why can`t you just simple download 3dsmax ? You have to do 3d modeling, not renders...
